Teens Make A Difference

This year Kayleigh decided to get back into Girl Scouts! She is in a wonderful Troop & the girls range from 6th to 8th grade. The Troop does a lot of volunteering & community service projects!
Kayleigh was also able to earn time for the Jr. Honor Society!

The Troop participated in Teens Make A Difference! They got to go to the Wichita Theatre which we love! The Troop worked behind the scenes in the costume rooms. They had to bag & hang all the costumes and sort them into colors & themes! It was a blast to see all the assorted ball gowns & wedding dresses!

When we finished, we all got to go to Strait Street a Youth Outreach Program/Facility & have pizza!

On Stage!

Kayleigh along with her Girl Scout troop, went to the WichitaTheatre to see High School Musical 2 live! The girls enjoyed watching local cast members in the musical. They liked all the costumes & different stage sets.

After the musical the troop joined the cast for a Meet - n Greet in the theatre with pictures & autographs!

Kayleigh's troop along with another troop participated in a theatre workshop. They began by learning how to cast their voices, so that the audience could hear them. Then they divided into smaller groups & each girl was assigned a part (The script was The Wizard of Oz). Kayleigh got to be Dorothy! They practiced for 15 minutes & then performed for the audience. It was fun to see Kayleigh up on stage.

The girls had such a good time being in the spot light! The staff & cast members worked well with the girls. We are looking forward to the next 2 productions at the Wichita Theatre. The Wizard of Oz in June & Grease in July! You never know Kayleigh just might be a big star one day!

Girl Scout Food Drive

Kayeigh's Girl Scout Troop #8209 was 1 of 6 from Holliday that held the 7th Annual Food Drive this past Saturday. The food they collected will help senior citizens in Archer City & Holliday, the Holliday Food Pantry at the church, & for the area families affected by the recent fires. Earlier that week, the girls passed out bags in Lakeside City & Holliday with a note requesting canned meat, veggies, fruit, dry items & misc. Saturday morning the girls rode with their leaders & other volunteers to pick up the bags of food. When they returned to the church the girls unloaded the bags & weighed them. Then they sorted them into the above categories. The girls worked from 9am-12noon & collected a total of 1,800lbs of food!
